What Scammers Learn From Your Child's Posts

Most scam messages go to thousands of people at once. Some are written for one person, using details found online. That's called spear phishing, and it works because it feels personal.

A school jumper, a room number, a pet's name, a birthday: each detail on its own seems harmless. Together, they let a scammer pretend to be someone your child knows.

Pet names and birthdays are also common password ingredients, which is one more reason to keep them private.

Set accounts to private, crop or blur school logos and house numbers, and never post where you'll be and when.

The rule from the episode: think before you post.
