Is Free Wi-Fi Safe? A Teen's Guide to Fake Hotspots

Anyone can create a Wi-Fi network and give it a convincing name. Fake hotspots near cafés, airports and stations are used to collect passwords through fake login pages.

Ask staff for the exact network name, and be wary of networks with extra words like 'free'.

A real café network won't ask for your social media password or your card to connect.

For banking and important accounts, use mobile data instead, and turn off auto-join so your phone doesn't connect to random networks.

The rule from the episode: free Wi-Fi? Ask first.
