Cyberbullying: Teaching Kids to Be Upstanders

Cyberbullying is when phones, games or chats are used to be mean to someone again and again: embarrassing pictures, cruel comments or deliberately leaving someone out.

Most children are bystanders, not bullies. Sharing a meme or adding a laughing emoji feels harmless, but it gives the bully an audience.

Upstanders don't share it, say something kind, report it and tell a grown-up.

If your child is the target, the steps are: don't reply, take screenshots, block, report and tell a trusted adult.

The rule from the episode: don't share it, stand up, tell.

The rule: Don't share it. Stand up. Tell.
