Some passwords are so popular that scammers try them first: 123456, password, qwerty, Password123. In this episode, SharkBot guesses Barry's in seconds, and because Barry uses it everywhere, that one guess unlocks everything.
The trick: three random words. Pick three words that have nothing to do with each other and put them together, like purple-taco-moonboots (make your own, don't use ours!). Long passwords are much harder to guess, and silly ones are easy to remember.
Avoid anything about you. Names, birthdays, pets and football teams are easy for others to find online. In the episode, Gary's password is 'gary', which is also written on his lunchbox, his backpack and his hat.
A different password for every account. If one website leaks passwords, criminals try the same password on other sites. Different passwords mean one leak can't open everything.
Remembering them all: a password manager can remember them safely for grown-ups. And like Nana Coral, writing passwords in a notebook kept safely at home is far better than one weak password used everywhere.
Add two-step login wherever you can, so a password alone isn't enough. The rule from the episode: long, strong, and never the same!
