Making a family code word

Scammers can fake caller names and even voices. A secret family word beats both.

  1. Pick something silly and memorable that nobody could guess, and that is not posted online.
  2. Share it in person only. Never in a text, chat or email.
  3. Use it when someone claims to be family and asks for money or help urgently.
  4. If they can't say it, hang up and call that person on the number you already have.
